Key Command issues
Hi Trevliga Spel,
I have a general problem. Some keycommands do not work on either Stream Deck software and Cubase Plugin software.
Please let me shortly explain it with an example:
In Cubase, the keycommand "STRG+Alt+F11" is used for "Close all Plugin windows".
When I press this command on my keyboard, everything works as expected.
Then I programmed it on Stream Deck with the Cubase Plugin - nothing works.
Then, because it worked with my keyboard, I programmed a Stream Desk hotkey with the same
keycommand and it also does not work.
What might I be doing wrong?
Thanks in advance for any idea.

Re: Key Command issues
Oh, I beg your pardon.
I am on Windows. STRG is the Control Key.
I would like to explain another strange behaviour in this context:
The function "Render in place" in Cubase has an individual keycommand given by me: ("Y").
The Cubase Plugin in Stream Desk recognizes this and shows:
"Category: Render in place"
"Command: Y (Render)"
Pressing this on my PC keyboard works, pressing this on the Stream Deck does nor work.

Re: Key Command issues
Thanks.
I know there have been problems in the earlier versions of the plugin, e.g. with the "Y" key on German keyboards since it's in a different position than on US keyboards. I'm of the impression that this problem is solved in version 2.0.2.
Both "Y" and "Ctrl-Alt-F11" work on my system with a Swedish keyboard and version 2.0.2.
- What keyboard layout do you have? (i.e. language - US/UK/German/Nordic...)
- What version of the plugin do you have?
- What happens if you open Notepad and have that window selected when you press the Stream Deck key that should send "Y"?

Re: Key Command issues
1. I have a German keyboard layout
2. I have the plugin version 2.0.2
3. when I press the Stream Deck key in Notepad, it shows (correctly) a "y" (no capital letter)
I use both apps as administrator.

Re: Key Command issues
That's a mystery. Both commands work on my system when using a German keyboard and a German Cubase.
I assume that other key commands work, and these are the only ones that don't?
I don't run as administrator, but if the plugin sends the correct character to Notepad, it will send the same character to Cubase. I really have no idea why it doesn't work.
What Windows version are you on? 10 or 11? I'm currently on Windows 10, I haven't tested it in Windows 11 but I can't see any obvious reason as to why there would be any difference.

Re: Key Command issues
I am on Windows 10, 64 bit.
But I must tell you the following: I have also a Monogram Controller and for testing purposes I put the "y" on a button.
What shall I say? It works! Without any programmings and so on.
So I think that my new Stream Desk XL has a defect.
When I put a original StreamDesk hotkey button on the Stream Deck and I program it with "y", nothing works.

Re: Key Command issues
Monogram Controller... (...longing sigh...)
I don't think there is something wrong with your Stream Deck; after all, it sent the correct "y" character to Notepad.
I'm still a bit suspicious about the fact that you run as Admin. Many programs (including the Stream Deck plugins) do not send a "y" when you tell them to send a "y". Due to the way Windows work, they must send the hardware ID corresponding to the key's physical position on the selected keyboard. To find that hardware ID, the program must ask Windows which keyboard layout the user has selected.
If you run as yourself, the "keyboard selected by the user" is simple; it's your keyboard. If you run as Admin, I really don't know which keyboard layout Windows tells the plugin you use.
If possible, it would be interesting to see if things work differently if you run both Stream Deck and Cubase as yourself.

Re: Key Command issues
You were totally right! It solved all of the issues.
Everything works as expected.
What I did:
1. check off the button "Open as Administrator" in the shortcut on the windows desktop for
a) Cubase 12
b) Stream Deck Software
2.
have a look on the properties of the exe-files of Cubase and the Stream Deck Software in the "files" (64bit) folder, but I did not have to change anything
3.
restart the PC
4.
open first Stream Deck software with double-click on the desktop icon, then open Cubase 12 in the same way
WORKING!
And the best is, that from now on I can drag and drop audiofiles from the explorer window directly into Cubase!
Thank you very much, Trevliga Spel, I have rewarded your effort via Paypal!
