Beta for the upcoming 3.2 release
Time for a new beta version for the upcoming 3.2 release.
The main new feature in this version is a Mackie Control action.
Some things to know:
VU display for volume is supported. I have included some different designs for displaying the VU information, and I'd appreciate honest feedback on what you think is usable and what's not.
Behind the scenes, the actions share code. When developing the Mackie Control dial actions, I needed to make changes in the shared code used by both the Generic Midi dial action and the Mackie Control button action. If you find any problems with those actions, please report them to me.
Version 3.1.0.366 See updates in later posts.
The main new feature in this version is a Mackie Control action.
Some things to know:
- The Mackie dial action should have the same features as the Mackie button action, as far as possible.
- The "Dial rotate action" has fader and V-Pot functions available.
- The "Dial press action" has button functions available (Mute, Cycle, Stop, Play, etc.).
- The "Rotate while pressed action" mixes fader, V-Pot and button functions. Button functions that can be controlled by turning the dial, e.g., "Select previous/next channel", have been added. For these actions to work, the correct Mackie layout must be selected. Different daws use different commands for some of these actions, so if you have the wrong layout, you will probably not get the result you expect. Please note that these functions require additions to the Mackie layout files, so if you have a customized layout file, you need to add the "Dial" entries from the corresponding built-in layout file.

What!? That must be a bug in the Stream Deck software since the plugin has no control over stacks (and is, in fact, not even aware of if it is in a stack or not)

Good work as always, Gunnar. Looking at the graphics, there is an effekt based on moving the handle to 100% suddenly enlarges the visible "HandleBackgroundMonoGreen."

Got it, thanks.
Re: Beta for the upcoming 3.2 release
Old vs New Mackie Control Mute Buttons behave differently although connect via the same MIDI Ports. The mute status only changes using the SD+ although the volume faders work fine.

Re: Beta for the upcoming 3.2 release
Nice find, thanks.
I was afraid something like that could happen since I needed to make changes in the code used by the Mackie buttons.
I'll investigate how I should solve that.

Re: Beta for the upcoming 3.2 release
I get a Tringle errors with the Transport buttons. Play Stop, Record etc... the only functioning button is the cycle.

Great.
But V-pot Mackie channels 2-8 aren't responding.

I cannot reproduce any problems with the V-pots. Do you mean buttons or dials? What do you mean by "not responding"?
Re: Beta for the upcoming 3.2 release
Moin Gunnar,
based on your SD+ Mackie graphics I added some additional designs. In case you are interested you can include them in your next release.

Those looked pretty cool. The full-height bar designs don't have any handles, do they? Please upload the designs, and I can have a look at them.

Re: Beta for the upcoming 3.2 release
There are surprisingly few bug reports on this beta version, so either it's pretty stable, or there are not that many people testing it.
My current plan is to add a "Multi Mackie" action to the beta, something I'm working on. I am also waiting for an updated SDK version, which Elgato announced will be released "in February".

Hi.
I follow this topic but am not very familiar with mackie control and don't even have a DAW.
My feedback won't be relevant for you.
Sorry.

Re: Beta for the upcoming 3.2 release
This is a significant beta update, where I have added a Multi Mackie action.
Implementing this action required significant changes to shared code, and the plugin has been quite unstable for a while. I think I have everything stable now, so please give it a try.
In addition to the new Multi Mackie action, there are some new features for highlighting the selected item in multi-actions and some additions and changes to fader designs.
V 3.1.0.401 Please see later posts

What do you mean by "take no input", I cannot reproduce any problem in the editor.Joerg wrote:Item1-4

I cannot reproduce that, each background field changes the correct background.Joerg wrote:Item1-4

Found that. Until a new version is available, you can select V-Pot design by deselecting/selecting the dial in the editor, opening section 4 and selecting a design before making any other change to the dial.Joerg wrote:Item 4

Re: Beta for the upcoming 3.2 release
Thanks.
The coloring was interesting; it works as expected when the "Avoid..." is set to "Move..." but not in the other options.
I still don't understand the V-pot problem. When you switch to V-pot, it is connected to the Mackie Control V-pot control, which, by default, is the panning control. Doesn't it react when you change the panning?

Re: Beta for the upcoming 3.2 release
Ah, ok. I was thinking of the V-Pot just being another way to display the fader. But with the mackie control it is meant to control another functionality.Admin wrote:I still don't understand the V-pot problem. Looks like the Handle is not rescaled.

Re: Beta for the upcoming 3.2 release
That is because your handle is not the same height as the background image. If the handle has the same height as the background, it is rescaled with the background; if it has some other dimension, it is kept unscaled.Joerg wrote:Looks like the Handle is not rescaled.
