Selected Channel is not known! error

Hello, I am using stream deck plus. In a new profile I created a Mackie Control fader (and another channel with v pot) with selected channel as my usage.  When I turn the assigned dial knob I get that error. If I select a specific midi channel (1 in this case) ironically it works but only on the top track in the session no matter what track I select. The v pot doesn't generate the error, but doesn't work at all with the same settings. Thoughts? Ports are set properly in IAC and Logic... On a MacBook M1 Max Logic 10.8.1
