Tip: trigger key commands with midi
When using key commands the Cubase/Nuendo window must have focus on the screen. If you want to trigger a key command without the requirement of having the daw window focused you can do this by creating a macro that references the key command(s). You can then reference this macro in the Generic Remote setup and finally use the midi action trigger the macro.
Example: there is no native way to use midi and the Generic Remote to open the mixer window. But you can do this if you...
Now you can use the Stream Deck button to open/close the mixer window without having the daw window focused on screen.
Of course this method can be used to trigger any key command that is not natively supported in the Generic Remote setup.

- Create a macro that triggers the Mixer (F3) key command
- Create an entry in the Generic Remote setup that references Command - Macro - the macro created in previous step
- On Stream Deck - create a button with a midi activity that references the entry in the Generic Remote Setup
Now you can use the Stream Deck button to open/close the mixer window without having the daw window focused on screen.
Of course this method can be used to trigger any key command that is not natively supported in the Generic Remote setup.
