Key commands not working
I have a issue with the key commands. It can't read my key definitions. What can I do.?
Key definitions could not be read from C;\Users\xxx\AppData\Roaming \Steinberg \Cubase10.5_64\Key Commands.xml

Re: Key commands not working
Please PM me the plugin log file ("%appdata%\Elgato\StreamDeck\Plugins\se.trevligaspel.cubase.sdPlugin\pluginlog.log").
Maybe I can tell from that what the problem is.

Re: Key commands not working
The problem was caused by a dollar sign in Cubase files. Release 1.4.6 corrects this problem.

Re: Key commands not working
Can you please attach the pluginlog.log file ("%appdata%\Elgato\StreamDeck\Plugins\se.trevligaspel.cubase.sdPlugin\pluginlog.log")
Re: Key commands not working
Something seems to go wrong when it tries to read StreamDeckCubaseUserSettings.xml, could you please attach that file as well?
Re: Key commands not working
Ok, that file looked OK (I assume you sent the file stored in your Documents folder..)
I need more information to (hopefully) see what the problem is. Could you please enable debug logging...

- Create the trigger file "%appdata%\Elgato\StreamDeck\Plugins\se.trevligaspel.cubase.sdPlugin\EnableLogging.txt"
- Kill the Stream Deck process using Task Manager.
- Restart Stream Deck.
- Send the new "%appdata%\Elgato\StreamDeck\Plugins\se.trevligaspel.cubase.sdPlugin\pluginlog.log"
Re: Key commands not working
Thanks, we're getting closer to locate the problem. If you have multiple Cubase versions installed the plugin tries to locate the latest version and use that, but something goes wrong in that process.
In your folder "%appdata%\Steinberg" - what sub folders do you have that start with "Cubase"?

Key commands cubase 10.5
I have 2 subfolders, Cubase LE AI Elements 10.5_64 and 10_64. Not sure if I can delete Cubase 10 without problems.
I only use 10.5

Re: Key commands not working
I don't understand why the plugin can't locate the correct folder. I assume that you want it to connect to Cubase 10. Please edit the StreamDeckCubaseUserSettings.xml file in your Documents folder (not in the plugin folder) and edit the CubasePath row to read:
<CubasePath>%appdata%\Steinberg\Cubase 10_64</CubasePath>
After that, it should work.
<CubasePath>%appdata%\Steinberg\Cubase 10_64</CubasePath>
After that, it should work.
Re: Key commands not working
Yes. I had a different path, but after some tweaking it worked.

Re: Key commands not working
I have that same issue, both MIDI and Key commands were working, and now Key commands do not. BUT, even when I send System hotkeys to Cubase 11 Pro, they don't work so it's not the Cubase plugin. What "admin mode" are you referring to? It sounds like you solved the issue!Daveurope wrote:Ok, I've finally found!!! It was about the adminitrator mode for cubase that I used....

Re: Key commands not working
I guess that @Daveurope is talking about "Run as administrator". If Cubase is started with "Run as Administrator" it is executing in a different context and keystrokes cannot be sent unless the sending process also runs as administrator.
You say that neither the Cubase plugin nor the System Hotkeys plugin can send keystrokes to Cubase. Can they send keystrokes to e.g. Notepad? (...and I assume that you have verified that Cubase respond to keystrokes from the computer keyboard...)

Re: Key commands not working
Wow, fast reply, thanks! All you said is correct. I can fire hotkeys at Windows and open web pages, control a Zoom meeting, etc. The Stream Deck works for all that. For Cubase, all MIDI commands work great via loopMIDI (I'm on Win10, fully patched). Key commands stopped working from Stream Deck a few days ago as you know, but I CAN execute key commands on the QWERTY no problem. These key commands don't even work on the Stream Deck system library where I'm throwing them at Cubase, BUT, they work on all other programs. WEIRD. The issue is my installation of Cubase 11 Pro. Nothing has changed... I haven't done an update. BUT, a few days ago I had a weird thing where I'd record some MIDI and the notes didn't appear in the range, and when I hit stop on the transport, the range disappeared leaving nothing, no MIDI notes for that track. Just remembering this.Admin wrote:I guess that @Daveurope is talking about "Run as administrator". I checked my app data folder, I have two lingering folders for previous v10.X versions and then Cubase 11 of course. Both KeyCommands.xml and Defaults.xml are there. I opened the KeyCommand.xml file and my custom key stroke for a macro was in there, and correct. This used to work. before whatever happened, happened.
This isn't an issue with your plugin, my Cubase version seems to be wonky. I'm thinking a clean reinstall of Cubase. With all my spare time, no problem.

SOLVED!
So it wasn't "Run as administrator", I've been running Cubase like that for the two years I've had it, and the deck was working. You HAVE to run Admin with Adobe stuff so I just do it for nearly everything.Admin wrote:I guess that @Daveurope is talking about "Run as administrator". The solution: Re-run the installer for Steinberg_SKI_Remote_1.0.8_Installer_64bit_win! It asked me to remove or repair. I chose repair, fired up Cubase and the Stream Desk Key Commands are all back. Popped in a few new ones to verify. I was looking in my Downloads folder for the the Cubase installer to reinstall THAT when I saw the SKIRemote installer, and wondered. And that was it!
I appreciate you tossing time into this to help figure it out.
